Los Angeles

Los Angeles’s six large municipal shelters provide adoption services and temporary housing for the city’s homeless animals. Thousands of dogs and cats, but also rabbits, turtles, and other creatures, are taken in each year. The goal of the shelters is to get all of these animals adopted, and that requires that they be socialized. This process, making sure that shelter animals are not only comfortable with each other, but with humans as well, requires training toys and treats, restraining leashes and no-bite muzzles, and other equipment not covered by the shelter’s budget. ASF is fundraising to get that gear to the shelters, in order that their animals have a better chance at finding a home. We have already supplied the city’s North Central Center shelter, and are now working to provide needed equipment to the West Los Angeles Center.
